About Coptic:

Coptic language or what is also known as Coptic Egyptian is Egyptian language latest stage. It is a language of Northern Afro-Asiatic and spoken until 17th century in Egypt. The Egyptian started to write using Greek alphabet, and had a new system in writing which is the Coptic script. In this new writing system, they adapted the Greek alphabet and add seven signs from demotic script in order to represent the Egyptian sound that the Greek languages do not have.  Based to the Ethnologue, Coptic language is extinct because it does not have native speakers. It is the current liturgical language of Coptic Orthodox as well as churches of Coptic Catholic.
